AshbyCapital supercharges The Kensington Building’s green credentials

Author: AshbyCapital |

Property investor AshbyCapital and developer Janson Urban have drafted in sustainability consultancy Carbon Intelligence on the Kensington Building, in a move which will create one of London’s most sustainable office buildings, React News can reveal.

The 130,000 sq ft scheme, which is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2022, is the first new headquarters office building in Kensington in over 35 years.

It has already reduced embodied carbon by 35% compared to a typical new-build office by repurposing much of the previous building, including 78% of the substructure and 48% of the superstructure.

The partnership with Carbon Intelligence is aimed at fine-tuning the building’s energy performance by analysing data from its network of smart system sensors to reduce operating costs, energy demand and carbon impact.

Our intention at The Kensington Building is to create an exciting and inspiring new place to work that is fully aligned with modern occupiers’ requirements.

ESG is at the top of the agenda and our collaboration with Carbon Intelligence reflects a desire to go above and beyond existing benchmarks.
